Pepsi Free... 35 days and counting!

During my last trip to California, Sheri decided to kick the habit. No more Diet Pepsi. That was over two weeks ago. When I got back - wanting to be supportive - I joined her. Our household is now oficially Pepsi Free!

The first few days were pretty tough - cravings, headeaches, etc... But, we are getting used to this new cyrstal clear beverage that comes out of our fridge cold and free - its called water - don't know if you've heard of it... but we are tyring it again for the first time in years, and its pretty good.

My wallet feels a little fatter these days too. Between the two of us we probably consumed $5 - $7 a day in Pepsi, so that's already somewhere between $75 and $100 in savings just in the first two weeks. Maybe kicking Pepsi will help us not feel the increased gas prices too much...

I wouldn't say we are 100% free and clear yet, and maybe we never will be. There are days, situations, and even meals when I catch myself saying "Man I could use a Pepsi with this"...

Well - so far so good... we'll keep you posted on our progress - wish us luck!

Well, I wish I could be more supportive, but having been caffeine-free for several years now I have to tell you - you're making a big mistake.

Not drinking Pepsi will leave a hole in your life that can be difficult to fill. Think about it: What are you going to have with that drive-thru combo meal - Sierra Mist? How satisfying will it be to crack open a can of Countrytime lemonade while you watch the big game? Will a glass of water perk you up in the mid-afternoon or provide that artificial sense of mild euphoria we all crave?

If television has taught me anything, it's that cafeinated beverages are essential for long-term happiness. Please think twice before you so casually abandon such a treasured relationship.

Joe,

Don't give into the DARK-SIDE. You are doing awesome!!! It feels good to be in control and look at all the money you are saving. Tell Sheri good job too.

Ouch - Spoken like a man who's "been there done that".

I took Sheri on a date last night, and you're right - lemonade with dinner just isn't the same as a tall glass of Diet Pepsi - on the rocks.

But if I give in now, sometime down the road I won't be able to write stinging clever comments on other blogs from a "been there done that" perspecitve... right?

I guess I'll just have to stay sober for that - if not for my health.

Cheers!

Joe and Sheri, I am so proud of both of you! Keep up the good work! Callie's prayers have been answered! I remember when she would pray that you could give up Pepsi! Love you, dad

I should apologize for the caustic nature of my comments. It just pains me to see young people making the same mistakes I've made...

As for the clever part, well...that's just part of my natural charm.
